Abstract
The method of examination of renal echogram has been recommended to examine the whole kidney with distance of 1?2 cm in transverse section and few centimeters in longitudinal section in prone position and lateral position. Authors presented, a
simplified method as a routine method and studied their relation to kidney with normal I.V.P. finding. Normal adult male kidney size of renal echogram was measured in 15 case of normal adult and also presented renal echograms of normal kidney, hydranephrosis, polycystic kidney, right. side double kidney with hydronephrosis and pelvice stone.
1. The method of routine examination of renal echogram are as follows,
a. In prone position, three transverse sections at the level of L2 (determined by lower margin of L1 spinous process), 3 cm up from L2 level, 3 cm down from L2 level and the left and right longitudinal section at the point of 7. 5cm distance from spinous process line.
b. In the left and right lateral position, the transverse section at L2 level.
2. The transverse section at L2 level cuts the right kidney of the point of 50.4%, 3 cm up level the
22.6%, 3 cm down level, the 77.6% of the distance of kidney length from the upper pole of the right kidney and cuts the left kidney of the point of 61. 7%, 3 cm up level, the 32.8%, 3 cm down level, the 87.5% of the distance of kidney length from the upper pole of the left kidney.
The 7.5 cm distance longitudinal section cuts the point of 60.6% of the width of right kidney and the point of 55.8% of left kidney.
3. The kidney sizes; of renal echogram were 5.8X4.6 cm in right kidney, 5.5X5.0 cm in left kidney in L2 level transverse section and 9.0X 4.4 cm in right kidney and 8.7 X3.9 cm in left kidney in 7.5 cm distance longitudinal section.
